But I find hierarchies useful for grouping related info, so I stuck to nested folders. I considered emulating Wikipedia's very flat system (where every article is at the top level and names must be unique). I went back and forth with it for a while before settling on my current system. How to organize your files on disk (or not!) is a contentious topic in the Obsidian community. I treat it as a personal version of the Heroku voice guidelines. I have a summary of these collected into a note at Meta/How I Obsidian. I do my best to ensure every note maintains a predictable location and internal structure. I get the appeal of combining everything, but to me, a knowledge base isn't the right place to do project planning. That's reserved for Things (and at work, Jira).
